JOB PURPOSE:
Provides support to the Director with the creation and maintenance of compliance programs and risk management planning to ensure Blarney Castle Oil Co. complies with its outside regulatory and legal requirements as well as internal policies and bylaws.
KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE:
- Computer literacy and well-developed skills using spreadsheet application software are necessary.
- Good math skills and the ability to analyze and reconcile data are required.
- Good communication skills and the ability to work with team members and directly with customers and regulatory agencies are required.
- Accuracy and attention to detail are essential.
- The ability to work independently, organizing and prioritizing daily and weekly tasks is required.
- High school diploma or equivalent is required. Associates degree in a relevant field is preferred.
- Previous experience working with and tracking technical data is required.
MAJOR DUTIES:
- Maintain and reconcile Automatic Tank Gauge data. Identify and resolve errors or variances. Notify the Director of issues requiring further action.
- Prepare monthly reports and analyses of Statistical Fuel Inventory Records. Identify and resolve errors or variances.
- Maintain corporate records of underground storage tanks. Renew and update tank registrations.
- Coordinate underground storage tank equipment compliance testing and documentation with contractors and BCOC Maintenance personnel. Interact with state regulatory personnel on Facility Inspections and address compliance issues with maintenance and branch office managers. This includes substantial telephone and email communication and maintaining a spreadsheet to track facility inspections.
- Maintain Michigan Underground Storage Tank Authority (MUSTA) records and assist with submitting claims for reimbursement of environmental expenses. Maintain tracking spreadsheets.
- Coordinate health department compliance for public water supply wells. Interface with contractors for well sampling, and laboratory analyses. Maintain analytical data records and compliance reporting to the various health departments. Assist with troubleshooting and response for occasional water well problems.
- Assist the Director with special projects, such as permitting, on-line research, and preparing and distributing letters and reports.
- Management of Snowplow/Lawncare contracts; Miscellaneous FOIA requests; Chemical Inventory Sheets; SARA Title II reporting; Setting up Class B training for maintenance; MDOT permit Gateway usage; MDARD appeals.

Reviewing operating reports on inventory and underground tanks, ensuring data is accurate and complete and identifying any issues or problems which must be brought to the attention of management
Most Complex Problems:
Identifying issues or problems in environmental or UST compliance records which present significant liability to the company and summarizing the issues for management presents a complex challenge.

Typical decisions
Establish record keeping and filing procedures and updates reports on a regular basis. Organizes and prioritizes own work to meet daily, weekly and monthly reporting deadlines. Contact staff at branch offices and stores to acquire necessary information.
Other decisions referred for approval
Variances in inventory or data from underground tank gauges are researched then referred to the Director for resolution. Identify and recommend repair work for Director’s approval.
